Kawa, which is a large, wide brimmed casserole used to “cook” and produce muscovado sugar found another use in Tibiao Antique.
Fill it with just the right amount of water, litter it with those nice smelling leaves (agoho?) then heat the kawa using firewood. Hop in and viola! You have a hot bath.
Yes, a hot bath! Insane? Well, save for burning firewood under the rain, I think whoever thought of this is a genius. Firewood is everywhere, so are the nice smelling leaves and of course, there’s plenty of flowing water from Tibiao River. Heat the kawa to some 37-38C (yes I checked the temperature) and I felt like a king warming my butt inside a huge kawa.
I was requesting a masseur but no other human being is crazy enough to brave the rain and massage an imposter king like me 🙂
Watch this video as I was trying to ward off sleep holding a Go Pro inside a hot Kawa!
Well, if no masseur is available, an ice cold beer will do.
